Engineering is the discipline, art, and profession of acquiring and applying scientific, mathematical, economic, social, and practical knowledge to design and build structures, machines, devices, systems, materials, and processes that safely realize solutions to the needs of society.

The concept of engineering has existed since ancient times as humans devised fundamental inventions such as the pulley, lever, and wheel. Each of these inventions is consistent with the modern definition of engineering; exploiting basic mechanical principles to develop useful tools and objects.

Once an idea is born, it requires attention from those that are skilled in the art of Engineering. Securing the services for engineering can sometimes be complicated and confusing. At Solid Engineering Corporation, we feel that it is our duty as professionals to educate those that come to us seeking help and seeking the next logical step. We will take time to explain our process in detail in order to get to a comfort level that can only come from clear understanding. It is fairly basic knowledge that any person seeking to purchase services and or product development simply wants to know and understand clearly what they are buying. Our proposals are done in such a way that every step is clearly defined and the design and engineering process is in a clear and concise step by step format. Every project is different and requires different steps. This is the nature of creativity. In the end, the pricing is bottom line for all services based on project definition and estimated hours. If a project requires engineering and design, then we employ a step by step proven phase system starting with layout and initial concept modeling in the CAD through many design reviews with engineers and the inventor to the ultimate goal of design freeze. A design freeze is basically the final approval from the inventor that the design and engineering meets the concept vision and is ready for prototype. Any components and materials cannot be priced until the design is complete and frozen. After design freeze, drawings and solid models are submitted from our CAD system for pricing and procurement. After all pricing is approved and procurement is complete, a prototype can be built and debugged to functional efficiency.

It is sometimes necessary to reverse engineer an existing product or process. Attention is devoted to much dissection and study of construction and function of an existing prototype or design done by others. The goal with this type of engineering is to seek out and implement superior designs and manufacturing methods while simulating the original concept. Every part is measured and modeled in the CAD system for further evaluation and refinement. Some reverse engineering is done simply to document a product, prototype or design that has none in order to produce in volume.
